Tiny caterpillars on a willow leaf, draped around the edge like a living filigree. They were only on this one leaf; there were none to be seen elsewhere.

When I took a picture, the flash made them ALL arch their backs like you see in this photo. I wonder what potential threat is inscribed on these little animals' genes, and symbolized by a flash of light...
